“Treat (your audition) like a performance. Remember to breathe, stay calm and present. But most of all- enjoy it. When you do, people will enjoy watching you!”

TIPS FROM A PRO ACTOR

Here’s the best advice I was given:

1. The role doesn’t belong to anyone. So you cannot treat it like it’s yours. This is very VERY important. The character must be treated with respect—it belongs to the writer, not you. All you can do is wear him/her for a moment.

2. Don’t try to show them what you think they want to see. Be who YOU think the character is. Even if you don’t get it “right” who cares! It was your original version! And casting will most likely remember you for something else.

3. The people watching you want you to do well. They wouldn’t sit there all day if they wanted people to fail. They are rooting for you to kill it. And you will.
